DESCRIPTION:The Parks\, Recreation and Conservation Citizen Board is served by seven citizens appointed by the Mayor and provides the Department with additional input as to the interests in\, and values of Parks\, Recreation and Conservation. The Board meets monthly in order to review recommendations for long-range plans pertaining to program facility development and parkland acquisition. \nPeople wishing to address the Board must call at least 24 hours prior to the meeting. Requests must include the name and address of the speaker\, the organization\, firm\, corporation\, or person in whose behalf he or she is appearing\, and the subject matter about which he or she wishes to speak. The subject matter must be related to an agenda item to be discussed at the Parks Board meeting. Each speaker will be limited to three minutes. Speakers must provide their name\, street address\, and municipality\, and then identify the agenda item that will be discussed. Requests may be made to Laura Boatswain at 914-377-6429. No speakers are allowed during the Parks Board meeting itself.

DESCRIPTION:The Council’s authority is defined in the City Charter; its primary function is to pass or reject the Mayor’s budget\, approve zoning changes\, provide advice and consent to Mayoral appointees and to introduce and approve legislation that affects all Yonkers residents. \nThe City Council President is the presiding officer of the City Council and was last elected in 2021. The Council President leads all meetings of the City Council\, and chairs the Rules Committee. Additionally\, the Council President acts as a city-wide ombudsman responding to individual constituent requests and community concerns. The Council President is also a voting member of all standing committees of the City Council\, the Board of Contract and Supply\, and the Community Development Agency (CDA). As a member of the CDA\, the City Council President actively promotes economic development in the City.

SUMMARY:Landmarks Preservation Board\, Wednesday\, Oct. 7\, 7 p.m.
DESCRIPTION:The Board must include one member of the Yonkers Historical Society\, two members who are licensed architects\, two who are archaeologists\, city planners\, historians or preservationists\, and a member who is a licensed realtor. Members are appointed by the Mayor\, subject to approval by the City Council. The Mayor appoints a Chairperson\, subject to consent by the City Council. The Board Members designate a Vice Chairperson who acts as head of the Board in the absence of the Chairperson. The members’ terms are staggered. Electronic copies of application materials submitted to the Landmarks Preservation Board are available for public access in the Current Applications folder. \nThe Landmarks Preservation Board meets the first Wednesday of every month at 7 pm at City Hall. Landmarks Preservation Board submissions are due fourteen calendar days prior to the meeting. All meetings are open to the public. The Landmarks Board must hold public hearings on applications to landmark a structure[s] or form a historic district. The Landmarks Board also conducts biannual field meetings in which they may issue on-site approvals. The Landmarks Preservation schedules subcommittee meetings\, work sessions and site visits as necessary.
