With Pride Month approaching, Yonkers is preparing for its 9th annual Pride Festival, with this year’s theme “Stronger Together.” Yonkers Pride and Yonkers Downtown/Waterfront BID are partnering to host the weekend of entertainment, community, and LGBTQ+ visibility.

Listed below are important dates for the upcoming festivities.

May 21: Kick off Mixer Fundraiser

To signify the start of Yonkers Pride, a Kickoff mixer fundraiser will be held Thursday, May 21st, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Zuppa (59 Main Street). The event will include a performance by Anastasia B. Major.

June 12: Flag Raising

The festival weekend will begin with a flag raising on Friday, June 12th, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Unity Fountain at City Hall, 40 S Broadway. The flag raising is hosted by the City of Yonkers and the Mayor’s LGBTQ+ Advisory Board to show support for the LGBTQ+ community during Pride. Community members are invited to attend and show their support.

June 13: Yonkers Pride Festival

The festival itself will take place Saturday, June 13th, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. along Main Street in Downtown Yonkers. There will be live entertainment featuring a diverse range of performers, including drag queens, kings, and additional artists yet to be announced.

The headliner of the festival is Luxx Noir London, a notable drag performer from season 15 of RuPaul’s Drag Race. DJ Dada Cozmic will once again return to the Yonkers Pride Stage, as well as host, Catrina LoveLace.

Vendor stands will also line the street, offering food, crafts, and resources for the public. The festival will celebrate Yonkers Pride’s mission to create spaces that promote diversity, inclusion, and LGBTQ+ representation.

Scholarship

As a part of the festival, Yonkers Pride will also give back to the community by recognizing a student with its Yonkers LGBTQ+ Pride Scholarship. This is a $1,000 scholarship awarded to a High School Senior who has shown leadership, service, academic achievement, and commitment to supporting the LGBTQ+ community. Applications are open until May 15th.
