Yonkers residents Christopher Franklin, 51, and Rafael Godoy, 41, found themselves in handcuffs on Sunday, Nov. 5. The pair now face grand larceny charges stemming from an incident at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Yorktown. The Yorktown Police officially announced the arrests on Thursday, November 9.

The alleged crimes occurred around 2:45 p.m. when officers rushed to the scene. Dispatchers received a report of theft at the popular sporting goods store located at 650 Lee Blvd inside the Jefferson Valley Mall. The swift response of law enforcement led them to intercept the suspects’ vehicle on Route 6, near the intersection with Lee Boulevard. The subsequent vehicle stop resulted in the identification of Franklin and Godoy as the alleged perpetrators.
The arrest for grand larceny
Upon searching their vehicle, officers uncovered stolen clothing valued at a staggering $1,524.83. Subsequently, police arrested both Franklin and Godoy; charging them with fourth-degree grand larceny.
Post-arrest, Christopher Franklin was handed over to Greenburgh Police to address an outstanding warrant against him. Rafael Godoy was remanded to the Westchester County Department of Corrections. The accused pair of thieves from Yonkers stand to appear before the Yorktown Justice Court on Tuesday, November 21.
