Yonkers Man Arrested for Shooting on Long Island Rail Road

A 20-year-old man, Nicholas D’Agostino, has been charged with second-degree murder for the shooting and killing of Yusef Staine. The incident took place on February 16, 2022, at around 1:45 a.m. on a Long Island Rail Road train at the Ronkonkoma train station.

After an extensive investigation conducted by the Suffolk County Homicide Squad and Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police Department, D’Agostino was arrested for the fatal shooting. Yusef Staine, also 20 years old, was shot by a man he appeared to be traveling with while they were aboard a westbound train parked at the Ronkonkoma Long Island Rail Road Station. Following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene.

Homicide Squad detectives took swift action and charged Nicholas D’Agostino with second-degree murder. He was held overnight at the Yaphank Correctional Facility and is scheduled to be arraigned at Suffolk County Court in Riverhead on May 19.
