Yonkers Man Joseph Delgado Pleads Guilty in Fatal Hit-and-Run

Joseph Delgado, a 24-year-old from , plead guilty to fleeing the scene of a fatal hit-and-run accident that happened last .

The incident occurred at the intersection of Executive Boulevard at Truman Avenue on June 23rd. Authorities identified the victim as 78-year-old Azhar Jamil Said. He tragically suffered fatal injuries after being struck by a red Jeep Grand Cherokee. The driver fled the scene before emergency services arrived.

Police soon located the suspect within 28 hours, determining the vehicle was a rental car with Florida license plates. Officers then arrested the 24-year-old Joseph Dimitri Delgado at a hotel in the Village of Elmsford. Authorities then charged the Yonkers man with Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death, a Class D Felony. Delgado’s driving privileges were already suspended due to previous violations.

On Thursday, February 8, the District Attorney’s Office disclosed a plea deal had been reached. Joseph Dimitri Delgado plead guilty to the lone felony hit-and-run charge. He faces sentencing this April. Per the terms of his plea deal, he faces up to a four-year prison term.
