This Friday, music enthusiasts and art lovers gather to join a celebration of the life, music, and enduring legacy of the legendary rapper, DMX, at Yonkers Arts during the Opening Reception of “Let Me Fly,” a DMX Tribute exhibition.
This art experience promises to immerse attendees in the extraordinary life and legacy of the iconic Yonkers rapper, DMX. The story is portrayed through the work of Yonkers-based artists. The art pieces are created by, for, and about the community that raised the rapper to stardom. Curated by Ray Wilcox of Yonkers Arts, the exhibition stands as a testament to the journey and impact of DMX.
At the heart of “Let Me Fly” is a collection of captivating images and mixed media works, with a significant contribution from professional photographer Shareif Z, also hailing from Yonkers. Shareif’s images encapsulate almost two decades of DMX’s career. They provide an intimate and comprehensive view of the rapper’s life and artistry. This tribute exhibition promises to be a fitting honor for the legacy of a true Yonkers king, DMX.
Additionally, Def Jam and the Timberland company have also been instrumental in bringing this exhibition to life with their contributions.
