In a celebration of compassion, inclusivity, and triumph, “Zen Brownie,” screens at The Picture House in Bronxville on Jan. 25. Directed by Emmy Nominated & Award-Winning Writer/Director Alison Bartlett and narrated by Jeff Bridges, the film unveils the extraordinary story behind Greyston Bakery, a success born from Buddhist principles. The documentary was recently honored with a Special Mention from the 2023 Impact DOCS Awards Competition.
The story delves into how Greyston Bakery in Yonkers has become a global phenomenon through its gold standard brownies. Treats which are famously featured in Ben & Jerry’s ice creams. The film follows the journey of Buddhist Monks and their transformative approach. Their leading with inclusivity and kindness to build not just a bakery but a profitable business. Director Alison Bartlett shared her goal in making the film was to highlight “kind, inclusive, and profitable leadership.”
