A car accident on I-87 near Empire City Casino in the early morning hours of April 9th, 2023 claimed one life and injured three others.
At 4:41am on Easter Sunday, the Yonkers Police Department responded to a major motor-vehicle accident on the northbound side of I-87 in Yonkers. From reports, an Acura MDX was driving the wrong way on the interstate. While traveling southbound in the northbound lane, it collided head-on with a Honda Civic near exit 2 (Yonkers Ave).
Emergency services transported three victims to local hospitals. However, one died while in transit.
Traffic on I-87 was backed up for many hours due to this fatal car accident.
New York State Police are further investigating this incident.
