The county health department will hold two free rabies vaccination clinics for dogs, cats and ferrets this fall.
The first clinic is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the SPCA of Westchester, 590 N. State Road in Briarcliff Manor. Appointments can be made through the county registration system or by calling (914) 941-2896, ext. 110.
A second clinic will be held Sunday, Oct. 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Stamen Animal Hospital, 61 Quaker Ridge Road in New Rochelle. Pet owners must call (914) 632-1269 in advance if they plan to attend.
No examinations will be provided at either clinic. Cats and ferrets must be brought in carriers, while dogs must be on leashes. Aggressive dogs must be muzzled, and all pets must be supervised by an adult. The county requires dogs, cats and ferrets four months and older that reside in the county to be vaccinated against rabies.
