The Yonkers Police Department apprehended two male suspects for the fatal shooting that occurred on July 28th in downtown Yonkers parking garage. The incident claimed the life of Pharrell Aguasvivas, a 16-year-old Bronx resident.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 PM when an unconscious male was discovered in a parking garage on 73-83 Highland Avenue, south of Getty Square. Despite their prompt arrival, medical personnel were unable to save the victim. Aguasvivas died from a gunshot wound to his upper left back. Investigations determined that the victim engaged in a physical altercation with the two male suspects prior to the shooting.
The suspects were tracked down and arrested by Yonkers Police Detectives from the Major Case Squad and Field Investigations Division. Both are minors under the age of 18. They are now facing a slew of charges including:
- Murder 2nd
- Robbery 1st and 2nd
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd
- Tampering with Physical Evidence
- Hindering Prosecution 1st
Both suspects have been remanded without bail.
Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano praised the work of the YPD while expressing hope that the arrests would serve as a deterrent to youth violence.

Police Commissioner Christopher Sapienza commended the detectives’ dedication, highlighting their commitment to upholding justice and public safety. Sapienza also acknowledged the tragedy of three young lives being shattered by the incident. He reinforced the necessity of better guidance for the youth.
