Westchester Disabled On the Move held a ribbon cutting on May 14 for its new headquarters at One Executive Boulevard in North Yonkers, marking the nonprofit‘s move into a 4,304-square-foot suite in a newly renovated medical building on what developers call the “Medical Mile.”
The ceremony drew Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins, Yonkers City Council President Lakisha Collins-Bellamy, and City Councilmen John Rubbo and Tim Hodges, among other local officials.
WDOM, a nonprofit Center for Independent Living, has served Westchester County for over 40 years, providing people with disabilities, seniors, and low-income families with access to healthcare, housing, and social services. Executive Director Maria Samuels said the new location’s accessibility features made it the right fit for the organization and its clients.
“This move has been a long time in coming,” Samuels said. “The convenient location and accessibility for our clients made this the perfect choice.”
The new space is in a building owned and managed by Simone Development Companies, which purchased One Executive Boulevard in late 2023 and converted it from a traditional office building into a medical facility. The building sits at the intersection of Executive Boulevard and North Broadway, a stretch Simone has branded the “Medical Mile” — a healthcare corridor that also includes physician offices affiliated with St. John’s Riverside Hospital, Northwell Health, and Columbia Doctors.
