In celebration of Women’s History Month, the City of Yonkers encourages residents to express gratitude towards women who have positively influenced, inspired, and served as pillars within their community.
The prestigious annual “Women of Distinction” Award recognizes and celebrates the efforts of women who have played vital and distinguished roles in improving their local community. Specifically, on a social, cultural, and economic scale.
Just this week, Mayor Mike Spano announced the commencement of nominations, aiming to appreciate and applaud the contributions of Yonkers women excelling in leadership roles and civic engagement.
Yonkers is proud to have many women who play vital roles in shaping our community, teaching our children, and advancing social justice,” expressed Mayor Mike Spano. “I strongly urge our fellow Yonkers citizens to recognize and celebrate the heroic women they know by nominating them for our Women of Distinction.
Nominations & Deadlines for the “Women of Distinction” Award
Nominations for the Women of Distinction are open until Friday, March 15, 2024. Residents may submit their nominations through the City’s website by clicking here.
The winners will be carefully selected by the Mayor and the Mayor’s Women’s Advisory Board. Successful nominees will receive notifications on Thursday, March 21st.
The award ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, March 27, at 5:30 pm. The City invites guests to witness the event in Yonkers City Hall on the fourth floor in the Ceremonial Courtroom.
