The Republican nominating convention was held on February 16th, 2023. From it, there are seven endorsed nominees and two races will go uncontested this year.
The name at the top of the slate for the city-wide office is Anthony Merante. Merante is currently the city council member for the sixth district who announced his candidacy for mayor of Yonkers a few short weeks ago.
Mike Breen is the only endorsed GOP candidate for the three city council races this year. Breen is running for his fourth four-year term after twice voting to approve legislation to extend his own term limits. Former GOP executive committee member Ron Matten has been wavering on whether or not to oppose Breen in the primary election. The first and third Yonkers City Council districts have no endorsed GOP nominee in 2023.
The four Westchester County Board of Legislators races will all have a Republican choice on the ballot. The only incumbent is James Nolan of district 15. Giulio Tata challenges David Tubiolo in district 14. Debbie Kozak will face the winner of the Williams/Johnson race for district 16. And Jose L Diaz opposes Jose Alvarado in the southwest Yonkers district 17.
Lastly, Nick Speranza is endorsed for the Yonkers City Court Judge race which recently saw the appointment of Karen Beltran.

“These candidates are energized and ready to hit the campaign trail. We, the Yonkers GOP, are looking forward to supporting them in their efforts and are looking forward to a spirited campaign season”
Yonkers GOP press release
There does not yet appear to be primary challengers on the Republican side. So, heavy campaigning is not expected to begin until the late summer leading up to the general election in November.
