Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana in Yonkers earned its place on the coveted list through its signature dish–the perfect coal-fired pizza. Originating in New Haven, Connecticut almost 100 year ago, the small restaurant chain opened its Yonkers location in 2009. This, along with over a dozen other locations throughout are known for their specific style of pizza.

Pepe’s unique pizza dough recipe, with higher water content, ferments slowly, resulting in a rich flavor. Cooked in a coal oven, it yields a thin, crispy, ciabatta-style crust: crisp outside, moist and chewy inside.

Patrons can choose from a variety of options in three different sizes. These include the classic tomato pie with mozzarella or the famed white clam pizza–a must-try for new visitors.
