The Yonkers Ledger has followed the city‘s noise ordinance closely for more than a year. Our editor, Peter Cohn, has a personal legal connection to the issue, including litigation with a neighbor and a lawsuit against the city over public records.
Because of that connection, we recused the Ledger from reporting today’s noise ordinance story ourselves and commissioned an independent journalist, David McKay Wilson, to report a story based on documents the city has recently produced in response to the records lawsuit. We stand behind the accuracy of his reporting. After some reflection, we decided the Ledger should avoid even the appearance of a conflict of interest, and we encouraged David to publish the story under his own byline rather than in these pages.
Wilson’s report is now available on his Substack. Read it here.
