The Yonkers Family YMCA announced the appointment of Vincent Taliaferro as its Interim President and CEO, effective December 9.
Taliaferro’s journey with the Yonkers Family YMCA began over a decade ago when he assumed the position of Senior Operations Director. Prior to joining the YMCA, he held key positions at Volunteers of America, Casa de Los Vecinos, and served as the Executive Director of the Youth Shelter Program of Westchester. Vincent Taliaferro holds a Master’s Degree in Human Services from Lincoln University in Pennsylvania and is a licensed New York State Credential Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC).
His work at the YMCA
During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in steering the organization through challenges, including the renovation of the kitchen after a fire that affected meal and dining programs. Taliaferro’s leadership also extended to significant infrastructure projects, including the construction of a modern resident bathroom facility.
I’ve known Vincent for years, he will definitely do great. I’m sure he will work closely with the YMCA team to continue the good work.

Beyond bricks and mortar, Vincent Taliaferro’s impact on the Yonkers community is underscored by his role in securing funding for the youth Clubhouse program. A program that is the only one of its kind in the city. His brainchild, the Reach & Rise Mentoring Program, has positively influenced the lives of over 20,000 children since 2013.
Vincent Taliaferro’s commitment to staff development has been a cornerstone of his leadership. Under his guidance, mandatory training programs have fostered a robust organizational culture that has, in turn, elevated the YMCA’s service delivery to its members and the broader community.
A veteran in serving marginalized communities, his passion for addressing critical issues such as homelessness, substance abuse, HIV/AIDS, incarceration, prisoner re-entry, and gang intervention has been unwavering. The Yonkers Family YMCA stated that it looks forward to the continued positive impact under Vincent Taliaferro’s leadership as Interim President and CEO.
