Mayor Mike Spano today announced that he has issued a state of emergency in the City of Yonkers, effective immediately, due to effects of today’s heavy rains and flooding.
“Today’s storm resulted in flash flooding, travel disruptions and damage in many of our low-lying areas,” said Mayor Spano. “The declaration provides the tools necessary to quickly and safely recover from the effects of the storm. I encourage our residents to limit travel during this time for their safety, and so our first responders can access the roads safely and effectively.”
As a result of the storm:
- Alternate side of the street parking is suspended today, September 29 through Sunday, October 1. Meters remain in effect.
- Yonkers Public Schools after school activities have been cancelled
