Yonkers Driver Leads Police on Pursuit and Armed Standoff

On Friday, April 14th, Yonkers resident Victor Marquez led police on a car chase that resulted in an armed standoff.

Around 7pm, police responded to calls about a gray Nissan Altima driving northbound on the Taconic State Parkway in Yorktown. The driver, 39 year-old Marquez, reportedly was in possession of a firearm. Marquez then led New York State Police on a high-speed pursuit through the town.

Victor Marquez then came to a stop near the intersection of Mill Street and US-6. When he displayed his firearm to police, an hours-long standoff began. A large section of route 6 was closed during this prolonged incident. It was not until police talked Marquez into peacefully surrendering that the standoff concluded around 2am that night.

Marquez is scheduled to appear before the Yorktown court next week. He is being charged with criminal possession of a firearm and third-degree unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. The date is set for April 25.
