Raffaela Sabatini

Raffaela (Rae) Sabatini, a longtime resident of Yonkers, NY, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2024, at the age of 106. Raffaela Italia Moderna Tummolo was born January 11, 1918, in New York City to the late Domenico and Gemma Tummolo. She worked with her father at a young age to learn the trade of tailoring, becoming a sample maker and later an incredible seamstress. Rae was a devoted mother and wife. In 1959, she married Liborio (Libby) Sabatini and moved to Yonkers. In 1961, she gave birth to her son Ronald. She was married to Libby for 15 years until his passing in 1974. Rae was a loving, creative, and stylish woman. Her passions in life were fashion, dressmaking, cooking and baking. She had hands of gold when she used a needle and thread or put on an apron in the kitchen. She loved celebrating holidays and special occasions with her family and hosting friends at her house for luncheons and dinners. She was loved dearly by everyone who knew her, and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her son Ron (Lori), nieces and nephews; Barbara (Mitch), Gemma (Wanda), Donna, Paul (Debra), Dana, J.P. and Sofia. Rae was predeceased by her brothers Mauro and Louis and nephews Jeffrey and Peter. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Cabrini of Westchester Tree Of Life 115 Broadway, Dobbs Ferry, New York 10522. The Sabatini family would like to extend its’ heartfelt thanks to the staff at Cabrini of Westchester and all her personal caregivers for their dedication and compassion.The family will be present on Thursday, April 25, 2024 from 4 to 8 PM at Ruggiero & Sons, Inc. A Funeral Mass will take on Friday, April 26, 2024 at 10 AM at St. Paul the Apostle Church – 602 McLean Avenue – Yonkers, NY 10705. Following the Mass, Raffaela will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery – E. 233rd Street & Webster Avenue – Bronx, NY 10470.
