The Yonkers Police Department swiftly acted on the received tip, forwarding the crucial information to the NYS DOCCS. Acting promptly, DOCCS executed a well-coordinated operation, surprising Rodriguez as they apprehended him the next day. The fugitive was safely taken into custody, ending his evasion and leading to his relocation to a correctional facility.

About the Anonymous Program

The TipSubmit platform, operated by Motorola Solutions, guarantees complete anonymity. Although, tipsters may voluntarily disclose their identify if desired.

The platform, hailed for its effectiveness and confidentiality, allows individuals to submit tips in two simple ways. They can either send a text with “YPD” followed by their tip to 274637 or conveniently scan the QR code below. More information is also available on the official Yonkers Police Department website by clicking here.

However, authorities emphasize that the service is specifically designed for sharing information related to criminal incidents or ongoing investigations. It is not a substitute for emergency situations. Therefore, authorities still encourage individuals to call 9-1-1 for immediate assistance during emergencies or active crimes.

Additionally, the YPD cautions against using the TipSubmit platform for reporting quality-of-life issues such as parking violations or disturbances. For such matters, police urge residents to contact the call center directly at (914) 377-7900 to speak with a dispatcher.

The distinction aims to streamline responses, ensuring that urgent matters receive the quickest attention while maintaining the effectiveness of anonymous tips in solving criminal cases.
