The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York announced the arrest of Angad Beharry, an NYPD officer and Yonkers resident, along with Gisainet Cristina Chirinos Viloria of Indiana on charges related to sexual exploitation of a child. Beharry has also been charged with possession of child pornography.
Prosecutors allege that the defendants conspired to coerce a female minor to engage in sexually explicit behavior. Furthermore, to take explicit videos and photographs and to send them to Beharry via WhatsApp for which Beharry exchanged monetary compensation. The events occurred from August 31, 2022 through at least on or about September 3, 2022.
Additionally, the complaint specifies that Beharry knowingly possessed sexually explicit videos and images of other minors. These materials included prepubescent individuals and those under the age of 12. Authorities also discovered sexual abuse imagery that included male predators engaged in sexual acts with young female children.
Caught from Colombia
In October 2022, Colombian National Police rescued a 1-year-old female from her mother who produced and disseminated photographs of her on social media. Under interrogation, the mother stated that she was in communication with Beharry via Facebook. She confessed to taking sexually explicit photographs and videos upon his request. She also admitted to communication with their mutual friend, Viloria.
Angad Beharry, 46, and Gisainet Cristina Chirinos Viloria, 23, are each charged with one count of sexual exploitation of a minor. This charge carries a minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison. Beharry’s additional charge of one count of possession of child pornography carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
The alleged actions of Angad Beharry and Gisainet Cristina Chirinos Viloria are unconscionable and despicable. Moreover, Beharry, as New York City Police officer, is trusted in this community to protect us and stand up for what is right, but he now stands accused of victimizing a child to satisfy his own alleged repulsive desires.
Damian Williams – U.S. Attorney
Beharry appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Judith C. McCarthy on January 25th and remains detained without bail. Viloria, arrested in the Southern District of Indiana, likewise has been detained without bail.
