We end the week with heavy hearts as our City has experienced a harrowing loss. Purple bunting now hangs outside our police department and flags have been lowered in tribute to Yonkers Police Sgt. Frank Gualdino. He was killed in a tragic accident Thursday afternoon on Tuckahoe Road.
He was the supervisor of our elite traffic unit. In October, he was commended for saving the life of a little boy, while providing assistance during a funeral procession. That was Frank. He always put others first. He always stopped to lend a helping hand.
Frank was a decorated and dedicated cop I was fortunate enough to call my friend. He was also a family man who leaves behind a wife and two children.
This weekend, please keep Frank, his family, and our police department in your prayers.
