The Yonkers Police Department successfully recovered a stolen 2021 Porsche Macan after a daring pursuit that left a young suspect in custody.
The incident unfolded on October 30 when the YPD received a call from a car dealership. The dealership alerted them to a stolen Porsche that had entered Yonkers’ city limits. This luxury vehicle had been reported stolen just the day before from Great Meadows, New Jersey.
Responding to the call, 4th Precinct Officers Pete Denyssenko and Virginia Creary sprang into action. They located the stolen Porsche Macan parked on Nepperhan Avenue. They decided to maintain a discreet surveillance, waiting for the unauthorized operator to return to the vehicle.
After a 25-minute wait, a male suspect approached the stolen vehicle and used a key fob to unlock it. Officers Denyssenko and Creary then sprung into action. Officer Denyssenko gave chase on foot while Officer Creary pursued the suspect in her vehicle. She then expertly cut him off around a nearby corner. Realizing he had nowhere else to run, the suspect surrendered himself and was safely apprehended.
Busted
Authorities identified the apprehended male as 20-year-old Jayden Martell from Newark, New Jersey. Martell now faces charges of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 3rd Degree.
The YPD took to social media to praise the officers and warn would-be criminals.
Don’t take things that don’t belong to you, don’t run from the Police, and avoid both of those evil deeds in Yonkers. We will apprehend you and deliver you to the court system to pay for your crimes.
