The city of Yonkers is getting ready for the annual National Night Out. This much-anticipated nationwide community-building campaign aims to foster stronger police-community partnerships and promote neighborly camaraderie. This year’s event promises to be a memorable occasion, offering residents the chance to connect with their local police officers and neighbors in a relaxed and positive setting.
National Night Out is scheduled for August 1st from 5-9pm and is dedicated to making Yonkers neighborhoods safer and more caring places to live. By bringing police and residents together, the event sets out to strengthen the true sense of community and promote understanding between law enforcement and citizens.
This year’s National Night Out will be hosted at four different locations, ensuring that all precincts have an opportunity to participate in this engaging community event. The designated locations are as follows:
- 1st Precinct – Andrus Field (Central Park Avenue, south of Tuckahoe Road)
- 2nd Precinct – Coyne Park (McLean Avenue, east of Central Park Avenue)
- 3rd Precinct – Sullivan Oval (Bryant Road/Knollwood Road)
- 4th Precinct – JFK Marina (Warburton Avenue/JFK Memorial Drive)
Organized by each precinct in collaboration with their respective Police Community Council members, the event promises a diverse range of activities and entertainment for all age groups. Residents can look forward to vendor booths, children’s activities, delectable food, and complimentary handouts throughout the evening.
The Yonkers Police Department is excitedly anticipating the event, which is regarded as the largest community outreach program of the year. In previous years, National Night Out has seen an overwhelming turnout, with hundreds of participants joining the festivities at each location.
Residents are encouraged to mark their calendars for this family-friendly event and join in the celebration of community spirit. For more information and event details, interested parties can refer to the following National Night Out poster.
