Bronx resident, Jasmine Velazquez, has filed a lawsuit after being injured at the Oakland Cemetery in Yonkers.
Velazquez was visiting the site of her parents’ final resting place in August 2022 when their headstone fell towards her and crushed bones in her ankle and foot. She claims the incident had left her bedridden “for a great length of time.” Her lawyer, Mike Rubin has filed a civil lawsuit against the cemetery, the manufacturers of the headstone, and the City of Yonkers. The requested amount of damages is undisclosed.
