The Yonkers Board of Education voted unanimously to appoint Anibal Soler Jr. as the next Superintendent of Yonkers Public Schools. The announcement followed a national search with Mr. Soler now set to start his new role on May 1, 2024.
In July 2023, Dr. Luís Rodriguez assumed the role of Interim Superintendent following Edwin Quezada’s retirement. With a career spanning various sectors, Rodriguez spent the last nine years as Assistant Superintendent for Special Education and Pupil Support Services in the district. He previously served as a Special Educator and Director of Special Education Instruction for 29 NYC public schools. Rodriguez will continue to hold the Interim Superintendent position until Soler begins in May. He expressed confidence in Mr. Soler’s ability to lead the district. “I warmly welcome Mr. Anibal Soler Jr. to the Yonkers Public Schools family. His vision for academic excellence and his alignment with our district’s goals are clearly evident.”
