The Manhattan Child Abuse Squad arrested Miles McNeal of Yonkers on February 1st. The 25-year-old McNeal faces charges including sexual abuse, exploitation of a child in a sexual context, dispersing sexually explicit material involving a minor, sustained sexual misconduct against a minor, possession of illicit sexual material involving a minor, and engaging in behavior harmful to a minor.
Abuse after school
Miles McNeal worked part-time at a public school in Harlem for over a year. He assisted an after-school film program at the undisclosed school before his termination in November 2023. Per the criminal complaint, McNeal stands accused of molesting an 8-year-old girl from September 8, 2022 to August 18, 2023.
The offenses allegedly occurred at a program facility situated on West 112th Street. Over 11 months, McNeal repeatedly assaulted the victim, took explicit, obscene pictures of her, and showed her vulgar pornographic images of other naked children.
McNeal faced arraignment at Manhattan Criminal Court on Friday. The court set bail at $75,000 cash and $200,000 bond. As of Saturday, McNeal remained in detention at Riker’s Island. He is due back in court on Feb. 7.
Considering McNeal’s access to many children through the school, police believe that he assaulted more than one child. Officials urge parents to come forward with any information they may have to assist the investigation. They ask to be informed if their children had interactions in any capacity with McNeal. If a parent knows that their child had contact with McNeal, they are encouraged to call the NYPD Sex Crimes Hotline at 212-267-RAPE (7273).
