Yonkers detectives are actively investigating the tragic death of a 30-year-old man from the Bronx as a homicide.
The incident occurred before 6:30pm on the night of February 23. Then, police received a report of an injured victim at the intersection of Woodbine Street and Blackford Avenue. Despite immediate medical attention, the man succumbed to his injuries with medical staff pronouncing him dead shortly after his arrival in hospital. Authorities are withholding the identity of the victim pending family notifications.
Details surrounding the circumstances of his death remain undisclosed as investigators from Yonkers’ Major Case Squad, Crime Scene Unit, and Digital Forensics Unit intensively probe the incident. Authorities assure the public that there is no ongoing threat to safety.
A statement issued by the Yonkers Police expressed gratitude to the community for their cooperation and support during this investigation. All roadways in the vicinity, previously closed for investigation purposes, have since been reopened.
