We continue to unequivocally reject the notion that the public sentiment regarding term limits has changed. Regardless, the citizens of Yonkers deserved to have their voices heard through a public referendum where it could be thoughtfully considered. Instead, we find ourselves the object of ridicule amongst our neighbors, riddled with lawsuits, and further burdening taxpayers in response to this blatant attempt at a power grab. Our democratic process is under threat, and we urge our community to come together so we can envision a better future. We deserve to have elected officials that respond to the community’s pressing needs before acting within their power to legislate.
