Official Press Release from the office of Catherine Borgia
I’m Catherine Borgia, Chair of the Westchester County Board of Legislators, and I’m here to address the matter of the Board’s terminated employee. As Chair, I am responsible for all staff at the Board.
When it was brought to my attention that the Board received the first email about the employee’s actions, I immediately referred it to the Westchester County Department of Public Safety.
As a mother of daughters, I took this matter very seriously.
At the time, Public Safety was unable to substantiate the claim that a video existed.
While the video investigation was occurring, the employee was removed from public facing duties.
When the April 13 video was released, I immediately terminated the employee-that day.
The allegations are very serious and I referred the matter to the FBI, as it involves New York State and New Jersey jurisdictions. I learned the FBI Safe Streets Task Force is investigating.
This is a serious matter, and I am limited as to what I can say while the investigations are occurring.
I thank you for your time, and I want you to know I am always acting with the best intentions to do what is right for Westchester County Residents.
